To maintain one of the largest control systems at its nickel and cobalt process plant, Vale Inco Nouvelle Caledonie naturally wanted the best possible expertise and support. After installing ABB's System 800xA, Vale Inco ensured that its plant performs efficiently and reliably when it signed a three-year on-site service contract with ABB.

ABB's on-site service team consists of service and systems engineers from around the world. Together with the customer, ABB agrees on joint key performance indicators to achieve production targets and transfer know-how to the customer.

Vale Inco Nouvelle Caledonie extracts and processes the nickel and cobalt deposit in the Goro plateau, which is one of the largest in the world. The process plant is expected to produce 60,000 metric tons of nickel oxide and 4,300 - 5,000 metric tons of cobalt carbonate annually.
