2017-09-13 - Themed “Reliable solutions for sustainable food future”, ABB recently hosted F&B Customer Day 2017 for food and beverage makers in Semarang, Central Java

Nearly 80 participants attended the event and showed avid interest in the sessions as well as in the technologies demonstrated in the mini exhibition area. Aside from the general sessions that covered topics like digitalizing F&B processes, microgrid, power protection and food process safety, reliability and efficiency, participants also enjoyed the opportunity to join breakout sessions which facilitated more focused discussions on various specific topics. The breakout sessions were divided in two themes “Digitalization” and “Energy efficiency”. The technology showcase area highlighted ABB’s various solutions such as process control system, smart sensor motor, measurement analytics, drives, electrification products and robotics.

Markus Brettschneider, Head of ABB’s Food and Beverage business, attended the event and addressed the strong global commitment to support F&B customers in Indonesia.

KokYeong Lee, Product & Partner Sales Manager for ABB’s Control Technologies business in Singapore did a presentation on Digitalizing F&B Processes - Internet of Things (IoT). This topic which covered ABB AbilityTM Manufacturing Operations Management – Process and Production Intelligence Software that supports users working with the overall plant operations in the context of data analysis and reporting. With tight integration between business and manufacturing systems, ABB’s Manufacturing Operations Management software helps enhance the speed in which information is exchanged between the plant and the business, so manufacturers can respond on demand, optimize plant productivity, enhance efficiency and deliver high quality products to remain competitive.


In addition, Sutrisno Sutedjo, Manager of ABB’s Control Technologies business in Indonesia, also demonstrated the benefits of Freelance Distributed Control System to visitors. The demo showed the ease of use of the full-fledged distributed control system that provides the small footprint of a PLC.

Indonesia sets its target growth for national food and beverage industry in 2017 at 8%. This comes with the fact that Indonesia’s population is growing rapidly, with strong increase in people’s purchasing power. It also comes with stronger distribution networks of retailers and export opportunities. This is certainly good news, not just for F&B makers, but also to ABB who supports the industry.
