Introducing YuMi
The main highlights of the ABB’s booth that attracted enormous attention from visitors and media was the introduction to YuMi, the world’s first truly collaborative dual-arm industrial robot.

The YuMi launching was conducted on the first day of the exhibition at ABB’s booth and attended by customers, students, robotics communities, and media. The unveiling procession was led by Richard Ledgard, Country Managing Director of ABB in Indonesia, Steven Lim, Local Division Manager of Discrete Automation and Motion in Indonesia and Lilik Suharmawan, Local Business Unit Manager of Robotics in Indonesia.

Lilik Suharmawan explained that YuMi marks the start of a new era in collaborative robotics. Short for “you and me”, ABB’s new dual-arm industrial robot is designed to work safely alongside humans: its soft, padded arms and innovative force-sensing technology ensures the safety of human co-workers.

Visit of Director General for Electricity
ABB received the honor of the visit from Ir Jarman, the Director General for Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Republic of Indonesia. During his visit to ABB’s impressive display area, Jarman took the opportunity to try out YuMi’s programming by receiving the flower handed by YuMi. He was also enlightened with ABB’s capabilities for microgrids and further about power generation. These two technologies have been playing close and significant roles that helps government of Indonesia in increasing the electrification rate particularly realizing 60% new power generation capacity from renewable energies.

Integrated demo systems
Among several product display, ABB also ran several integrated demo systems that helped visitors to have better understanding about ABB’s intelligent technologies.
These integrated demo systems included Symphony Plus that enables plants and personnel to perform efficiently and balance objectives like asset availability, operational reliability and production efficiency with business goals like asset life extension, carbon reduction and regulatory compliance.

In addition to this, visitors may also learn further about ABB ServicePort™, a secure, remote-enabled service delivery platform that allows users to view, scan and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure maximum performance of equipment and processes, resulting in higher operational efficiency.

Another demo systems introduced to visitors was System 800xA, that extends the reach of traditional automation systems beyond control of the process for all of the major industrial process manufacturing facilities globally.

ABB also proudly accentuated its leadership in intelligent building control by installing KNX systems at its booth, to show visitors the simple but proven technology for the control of all types of intelligent buildings - industrial, commercial or residential. Guided by ABB’s experts, visitors may take the opportunity to try and see the simulation.

Media outreach
ABB received media coverage in significant volume, mostly highlighted YuMi that heralds a new era of robotic coworkers that are able to work side-by-side on the same tasks as humans while still ensuring the safety of those around it. This particular ABB’s technology clearly addresses the complete solution that may increase the industrial productivity in Indonesia. As a complete solution, YuMi not only benefits the manufacturer, it benefits the entire value chain, from the manufacturer to the worker, to the environment, to the consumer of the product.
